WorkflowStreamlined Workflow is the set of exam-launching shortcuts built into the Voluson P8, GE's mid-tier OB/GYN ultrasound system. The system auto-detects the connected probe, loads the exam preset matched to the scheduled visit type (first trimester, second trimester, gynecology, pelvic, early pregnancy viability), and tunes gain, depth, and focal zone to the target anatomy before the clinician places the probe. An OB/GYN practice running 25 to 40 scans per day uses the feature to cut setup time between patients, because the sonographer isn't stepping through menu layers for every exam the way they would on a general imaging console.

That focus lets the system preload protocols tuned to fetal biometry, cervical length, uterine imaging, and ovarian assessment without requiring the operator to select each parameter individually. Probe swaps trigger automatic preset updates: switching from a transabdominal curved probe to an endocavity probe reloads the relevant exam template rather than forcing a manual menu reset. Image parameters such as dynamic range and harmonic frequency shift to the profile that matches the selected exam type. Sonographers working a full OB schedule spend their attention on patient positioning and image interpretation rather than on the system's control surface between exams.
