Whizz Label

AI & Automation

Whizz Label is part of GE's Whizz automation suite on Versana systems. It uses AI image recognition to identify the anatomical structure being scanned and automatically applies the correct label and body marker to each image. This eliminates the manual step of scrolling through annotation menus or typing labels during the exam. In high-volume practices where sonographers capture hundreds of images per day, Whizz Label reduces documentation time and ensures every image is correctly annotated for reporting and archiving.

Key Benefits

Why Whizz Label matters

01

Eliminate manual image annotation during exams

The AI identifies anatomy and applies labels automatically as images are captured. Sonographers no longer need to navigate annotation menus or type labels between image acquisitions, which removes one of the most repetitive tasks in every exam.

02

Consistent labeling across all operators

Every sonographer's images receive the same standardized labels regardless of individual annotation habits. This consistency simplifies physician review and eliminates the confusion that arises when different operators use slightly different naming conventions.

03

Fewer mislabeled images in the archive

Automated recognition reduces the documentation errors that occur during busy exam schedules. Correctly labeled images improve the reliability of the medical record and simplify image retrieval for follow-up comparisons.

04

Customizable labels that match practice conventions

The labeling system can be configured to use your practice's preferred terminology and body marker positions. This means adopting the automation does not require changing established documentation conventions that your reading physicians already expect.

About Whizz Label

Image labeling is one of the most frequent manual tasks in an ultrasound exam. For each captured image, the sonographer must select the correct anatomical label, body marker, and orientation from a menu or type it manually. Over a full exam with 30-50 images, this annotation work adds minutes to every study. Whizz Label automates the process using AI trained to recognize anatomical structures across multiple clinical applications including abdominal, obstetric, musculoskeletal, and vascular imaging. As the sonographer scans, the system identifies the anatomy in the field of view and assigns the appropriate label. The labels follow standardized naming conventions, ensuring consistency regardless of which operator performs the exam. This consistency is particularly valuable for practices with multiple sonographers who might use slightly different labeling conventions manually. Whizz Label also reduces the risk of mislabeled images, which can cause confusion during physician review and create documentation errors in the medical record. The feature can be customized to match a practice's preferred labeling scheme.
