GE 9T-RS

The 9T-RS is a transesophageal echocardiography probe with a 7.5 x 10.7 mm distal tip and 37.5 mm insertion length, sized for both pediatric and smaller adult patients. The 4.0 – 10.0 MHz bandwidth delivers near-field valve detail at high frequency while maintaining penetration for posterior cardiac structures at 3 MHz. Multi-plane rotation provides continuous imaging from 0 to 180 degrees for full structural assessment on the Vivid IQ, Vivid T9, and Vivid S70 platforms.

Clinical Applications

Applications

Transesophageal Echocardiography

Multi-plane imaging from 0 to 180 degrees provides standard TEE views including mid-esophageal four-chamber, two-chamber, long-axis, and transgastric short-axis. The 10 MHz upper range resolves valve leaflet morphology, vegetations, and thrombus with detail not achievable from transthoracic windows. The 7.5 x 10.7 mm tip eases passage in pediatric patients and adults with smaller esophageal anatomy.

Intraoperative Cardiac Monitoring

Real-time TEE during cardiac and non-cardiac surgery monitors ventricular function, volume status, and valve competence. The 3 MHz low end penetrates to 14 cm for complete visualization of the left ventricle from the transgastric window. Color Doppler detects new or worsening valvular regurgitation immediately after surgical repair, guiding intraoperative decision-making.

Pediatric TEE Assessment

The compact 7.5 x 10.7 mm tip and 37.5 mm shaft length are designed for passage in pediatric patients undergoing congenital heart surgery or catheter-based interventions. High-frequency imaging at 8–10 MHz resolves small intracardiac structures including atrial and ventricular septal defects, patent ductus arteriosus, and valve anatomy. Multi-plane rotation maps shunt pathways and guides catheter positioning during interventional procedures.
