GE RAB2-6-RS

The RAB2-6-RS is GE's real-time 4D convex volume probe, combining a 2–6 MHz wideband transducer with mechanical sweep for volumetric acquisition. The 62.2 x 34.0 mm footprint covers a 70-degree B-mode sector that expands to 70 x 84 degrees in volume mode. Its ultralight housing reduces operator fatigue during extended OB exams, and the RS-Pin connector gives it broad compatibility across Versana, LOGIQ, and Voluson platforms.

Clinical Applications

Applications

Obstetric 3D/4D Imaging

Real-time 4D rendering visualizes fetal face, extremities, and spine for structural anomaly screening and parental bonding views. Volume datasets support multiplanar reconstruction of the fetal brain, heart, and palate in planes not accessible with conventional 2D scanning. HDlive rendering on compatible Voluson systems adds depth and shadow effects for surface detail.

Gynecological Assessment

3D volume acquisition reconstructs coronal views of the uterus for Mullerian anomaly classification and IUD localization. The 2–6 MHz range images the endometrium, myometrium, and adnexa with resolution suitable for fibroid mapping, endometrial polyp detection, and ovarian follicle counting in fertility workups.

Pediatric & Abdominal Imaging

Low-frequency operation at 2 MHz penetrates deep abdominal structures, while 6 MHz resolves superficial pediatric anatomy. The wide volume scan angle captures full organ volumes for liver volumetry and renal assessment. Real-time 4D adds value for guided procedures and dynamic studies of bowel motility.
