GE M5Sc-RS
The M5Sc-RS is a multi-purpose phased array transducer spanning 1.0 – 5.0 MHz with a 120-degree sector angle and 30 cm depth capability. It covers adult transthoracic echocardiography, pediatric cardiac, abdominal, and transcranial Doppler applications from a single compact footprint. The RS-Pin connector pairs it with GE Vivid, LOGIQ, and Venue portable and mid-range systems, making it a practical choice for practices that need cardiac and general imaging capability from one transducer.
Specifications
Low-frequency range provides the penetration needed for adult cardiac and transcranial Doppler applications.
Wide sector angle captures complete cardiac chambers and reduces foreshortening in apical views.
Deep imaging range accommodates large patients and deep abdominal structures.
Full Doppler suite for cardiac hemodynamic assessment including tissue Doppler on compatible systems.
RS-Pin connector pairs with GE Vivid, LOGIQ, and Venue portable and mid-range platforms.
Applications
Adult Echocardiography
The M5Sc-RS supports standard transthoracic echo windows including parasternal long and short axis, apical four-chamber, and subcostal views. The 1.5 MHz low end provides the penetration needed for larger patients, while the 120-degree sector angle captures complete ventricular geometry for EF calculation. On Vivid-series systems, it supports strain imaging, Auto EF, and tissue Doppler protocols.
Pediatric Cardiac and Abdominal
At the higher end of its bandwidth, the M5Sc-RS resolves pediatric cardiac structures with the detail needed for congenital heart disease assessment. The compact phased array footprint fits between pediatric rib spaces. For abdominal applications in smaller patients, the same probe images liver, kidneys, and spleen without switching transducers.
Transcranial Doppler
The M5Sc-RS supports transcranial Doppler through the temporal window at its lower frequencies, enabling middle cerebral artery velocity measurements for stroke screening and vasospasm monitoring. The phased array geometry and low-frequency penetration make it suitable for TCD studies when dedicated TCD hardware is unavailable.
