GE Vivid — Premium Cardiovascular
GE Vivid Explorer
$6.74
Built for high-volume echo labs and routine interventional procedures, GE Vivid Explorer combines 4D, multi-plane and 2D cardiac imaging across TTE, TEE and ICE. cSound imaging and AI measurement tools support everyday echo, while 4D Auto MVQ, 4D Auto TVQ, LAA measurements and 4D Navigation extend structural-heart workflows. An optional battery supports scanning as the system moves between the echo lab, EP suite and bedside.
- 4D, multi-plane and 2D TTE, TEE and ICE — One console covers transthoracic, mini-TEE and intracardiac imaging, so the same system follows patients from the echo lab into structural-heart and EP procedures.
- 4D Auto MVQ, TVQ and 4D Navigation — Quantify mitral and tricuspid valves in 4D, help predict TMVR screening success, and reduce the time and effort needed to reach the views a procedure calls for.
- AI measurement for EF, strain and Doppler — AI Auto Measure 2D, Easy AutoEF, Easy AFI LV and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler cut manual steps and support consistent results from exam to exam.

Frequently Asked Questions
Vivid Explorer is designed for high-volume echo labs and for routine interventional work in structural heart and electrophysiology programs. It sits in the new Vivid family below the ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer and above Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus. Programs choose it when they need 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging across transthoracic, transesophageal and intracardiac exams on one console.
Vivid Explorer combines 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging. It covers transthoracic echo (TTE), transesophageal echo (TEE), including mini-TEE, and intracardiac echo (ICE). GE builds it on cSound, its software-based imaging architecture, which is designed to optimize contrast, resolution and tissue visualization. Beyond cardiac work, the system also supports vascular imaging tools such as B-Flow and IMT.
Vivid Explorer supports four named probes: the 4Vc-D 4D phased array (1–6 MHz) for 4D transthoracic imaging, the 6VT-D 4D TEE probe (3–8 MHz), the 9VT-D mini 4D TEE probe (3–8 MHz), and the 6Sc-D phased array (2–8 MHz), a slim probe for adult and pediatric cardiac windows. ICE imaging uses compatible third-party ICE catheters. Your quote lists every probe and catheter included with your system by model number.
Vivid Explorer brings 4D structural heart tools to this class of system. 4D Auto MVQ quantifies the mitral valve and annulus and is designed to help predict TMVR screening success. 4D Auto TVQ analyzes the tricuspid valve, and 4D Auto AVQ quantifies the aortic outflow tract for TAVI/TAVR planning. LAA sizing and compression tools support appendage work, and 4D Navigation reduces the time and effort to reach desired views.
Yes. Vivid Explorer supports 2D ICE and 4D ICE. It works with the 4D ICE NUVISION and CRYSTAL 2D ICE catheters. The system also offers a CARTOSOUND interface with a remote UI, so the ultrasound system can be controlled from the CARTO 3 mapping system in the EP lab. Of the three Vivid systems launched in 2026, only Vivid Explorer offers 4D ICE; Vivid Advanced supports 2D ICE and CARTOSOUND.
Vivid Explorer offers four AI and automation tools: AI Auto Measure 2D, Easy AutoEF, Easy AFI LV and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler. They are designed to reduce manual steps and simplify measurements such as ejection fraction, strain and Doppler, supporting consistency across users and exam types. Each tool is available as an option, so your quote specifies which ones are included.
Yes. Automated Function Imaging (AFI) tools cover the left ventricle (Easy AFI LV), left atrium (AFI LA) and right ventricle (AFI RV). Myocardial Work adds blood pressure to global longitudinal strain analysis, and AFI Stress applies strain analysis to stress echo. Of the three Vivid systems launched in 2026, only Vivid Explorer offers AFI Stress.
Yes. Vivid Explorer supports Smart Stress, AFI Stress, and LVO & LVO Stress. LVO (left ventricular opacification) uses ultrasound contrast agents to define endocardial borders when acoustic windows are poor, at rest or during stress. Your quote specifies which stress and contrast packages are included.
Vivid Explorer includes 4D rendering and measurement tools: FlexiLight, which places a virtual light source in front of or behind a rendered 4D image; HDlive for light and shadow effects in tissue; Vmax; 4D Markers; and 2 Click Align. Examples include FlexiLight on a 6VT-D view of mitral regurgitation, and 4D imaging of the mitral, aortic and left atrial appendage anatomy.
Yes, with the optional battery. The system supports scanning on battery and a battery transport mode, so it can move between the echo lab, the EP suite and the bedside without shutting down. Power Saving Mode reduces energy use while maintaining performance. Your quote states the battery configuration included.
Yes. The FDA cleared Vivid Explorer, together with Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus, under 510(k) K261313, with a substantially equivalent decision on September 2, 2026. The clearance includes a Predetermined Change Control Plan. The systems also carry the CE Mark. Availability of third-party ICE catheters and mapping products depends on their manufacturer.
All three share cSound imaging, the four AI measurement tools and battery-supported operation. Vivid Explorer is the only one with 4D imaging and 4D ICE, along with the 4D quantification tools (MVQ, TVQ, AVQ, RVQ, LHQ), LAA tools, Vmax and AFI Stress. Vivid Advanced covers 2D TTE, multi-plane TEE, 2D ICE and CARTOSOUND, plus vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue imaging. Vivid Focus is built for everyday cardiac imaging with the new 4Sc-RS probe, and has no 4D or ICE capabilities.
Yes. GE's EchoPAC Software Only v211 introduces the same new capabilities available on Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus, so clinicians can review, analyze and quantify studies on-site or remotely with consistent tools. When GE announced it in August 2026, EchoPAC Software Only v211 was 510(k) pending in the United States. Ask about current U.S. availability before adding it to your order.
Yes. Vivid Explorer supports pediatric imaging with the 6Sc-D, including apical four-chamber views, and the probe's slim design fits tight intercostal spaces. The 9VT-D mini 4D TEE probe is rated for adult and pediatric cardiac use, and its compact profile extends transesophageal imaging to smaller patients, including interventional exams in children weighing 5 kg or more.
Vivid Explorer is not positioned as a replacement for the Vivid E95. It is part of a new Vivid family that joins the ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer on a common technology foundation, and it brings many of the E95's 4D and AI tools to a system built for high-volume echo labs and routine interventional procedures.
